“His Perfect Love Dispels All Fear!”

Let us meditate and confess the truth that God’s perfect love will always cast out fear! There will be times that fear will try to strike at our hearts, and we can be tempted to be shaken. May we stop in those moments, and remember that Jesus has promised to never leave us or forsake us. He has promised that He can cause our souls to lie down in green pastures, and sooth our restless souls. In the reading of the Psalms you can find David speak to his own disquieted and anxious soul. He always would end with the words “My hope is in God!” As we quiet ourselves in His presence, and remember our hope, we begin to receive the instruction of what we need to do, and in His time we see the manifestation of our prayers. Sometimes after we get through circumstances we take a deep breath in the Spirit, and we may sometimes ask ourselves, ” Why was I so afraid? In light of this let us look at I John 4:18 from the Amplified version:
“There is no fear in love [dread does not exist],
but full-grown (complete,
perfect) love [a]turns fear out of doors
and expels every trace of terror! For
fear [b]brings with it the thought

of punishment, and [so] he who is afraid
has not reached the full maturity of

I would like to share this little story about my dog Aasha with you. I have shared this with you before but I will share it again. My Aasha just like many dogs just hates going to the vet. The poor thing gets herself all worked up over the whole ordeal. No matter how much we try to comfort her, she hates going to the vet. One time we took her when she was a bit younger, and she was quivering and shaking. It was so pitiful. With every bit of strength I had, I had to drag this 85 pound bundle of love and fur back into the doctor’s office. I had her there for a shot and a nail trim, but for her it was walking into the fear of the unknown!
There is one particular vet technician that was so calm, sweet and loving with her for she totally understands how to handle the German Shepherd breed. She sweetly calmed Aasha, and it wasn’t long that she was at peace. Aasha totally submitted to this woman yet she kept her eyes locked on me. All her fear seemed to leave as long as she could see me. My presence helped dispel her fears. After the exam, shots and nail trim, it was interesting observing her leaving the doctors office. She pranced out the door, and if she could have talked she probably would have exclaimed “Hey, that wasn’t so bad, when can we do this again?”
I want to refer back to the scripture in light of this little story. “Perfect love makes our fear leave and expels every trace of terror!” Next time fear knocks on the “door” of your heart try to remember to keep your eyes on Him and believe for Him to drive your fears away as you experience the power of His love, and presence making every trace of fear and terror leave you. Fear and torment must obey, and leave the premises of your mind and soul in Jesus Name. Today let us ponder the power of His perfect love.

“Seeing Through the Eyes of Faith”

For the past few days I have been sharing about Peter stepping out of the boat, and walking on the water to walk toward Jesus. As I said yesterday we need to remember that out of all the disciples, Peter was the only one that ventured to release his faith, and step out of the boat.Today let us continue to meditate upon how vital it is to stay focused on God, and His Word when we step out of the “boat” and attempt to walk in faith.
The lesson we can learn from Peter is that in a split second his focus and faith was hindered . You see, when he initially stepped out of the boat, there were wind and the waves, and his faith caused him to rise above all that he saw or heard. The wind and the waves began to distract him, and fear entered his heart. May we learn from this story that broken focus can do so much harm to one’s walk of faith.
As I was meditating upon keeping focus I started to think about blinders, and their use on horses. There is definite purpose, and benefits to do such a thing, and that is for the focus and protection of both the horse and the rider. I would like to share some things that I found regarding using blinders on a horse, and I hope they will serve you as an interesting analogy, and give you greater understanding in the realm of focus, and teach us to rise above distractions.
The blinders cover the rear and side vision of the horse, forcing it to look only in a forward direction, and keeping it on track. Farming horses can be predisposed to distractions, and if they are pulling a plow or a wagon they might need blinders to stop them from losing concentration on the direction they are supposed to be headed. Race horses also need blinders to stay focused that they can run a race, stay on course, and not be taken by distraction.
In light of sharing about horses and blinders I want to refer to scripture that is all about our faith. Hebrews 11:1-3 is basically summed up in a few words…We walk by faith and not by sight. Many times it is the very things that we see that seem so sure and secure, yet those are the things that will hinder us the most from believing God to do the unbelievable. There are those times that we will need to purpose ourselves to look past everything that seems so real, and see into the Spirit in order that we can stay focused and stay in faith.
God’s Word is total light and life,and His Word will keep us focused and on track in the fight, and in our walk. Let us be reminded that whenever we step out that God is there walking along side of us. As we look to His Word and refuse to be moved by what we see in the natural we will begin to see Him moving in our lives in ways we never have imagined. I encourage you today my friends to walk by faith and not be what you see with your physical eyes! It is then that our Lord will do the impossible!

“Walking On the Water With Jesus”

Yesterday I shared about the story in the Bible where Peter stepped out of the boat to walk on the water to walk to Jesus. I want to emphasize again for you to just think about the courage it must of taken him to get out of the boat. His question to the Lord was, “If that’s you, tell me to come.” and Jesus proclaimed that yes indeed it was Him. Many times we will ask the same question when we fear stepping out in something bigger than us in this life. God may be speaking to your heart to do something and your prayer has been “Lord if this is you, I will do it.”
It is very important to know that when we are purposing to do God’s will that we know beyond a shadow of a doubt that it is Him. Yet there can be those times that it seems a bit sketchy or too big for us to grasp how it is going to work out for the good. Getting out of our “boats” in this life could mean different things to each of us. All of us are at different growth levels and the Lord is molding and making each of us in His timing and in His perfect way. It is always important that we remember that the Lord requires our obedience to His Word and to His voice at all times.
Saying all that I have said, I want to remind you today that Jesus is the author and finisher of YOUR faith. He desires to perfect all that concerns you in this life. He is the one who gives you incentive for your faith and He is the one who completes your faith. He is your example and you must look to that example if you become weak in heart from the discouragement that may come to rob your soul of hope and purpose.

Getting out of the boat for you may be God speaking to you about changing to a different job, going on a mission’s trip, sharing the Word of God with someone…etc. Sometimes getting out of the boat for someone may be the need for courage to face a confrontation. No matter what it is, Jesus is right there on the water with you. He has been there and done it, and He will complete that thing that you desire to set your faith upon.

If you know that in your heart, then it is time to STEP OUT!!!!! I encourage you to look to Jesus, and stay focused upon Him. Do not dwell on the past when you tried, and you were moved by the “wind and the waves” of this life. Jesus is there, and He will walk with you. God bless you as you walk with Him today!

“When God Calls You To Step Out of the Boat”

Yesterday I shared with you about the importance of knowing and understanding God’s purpose for your life. I know for myself that throughout my life there have been times that I have had to step out in things that I never did before, and I feared that I could not do those things. In those times that our Lord calls upon us to do things we fear we need to remember He is the God that pours out His grace upon us, and makes our inabilities into possibilities.
Today I want to share about doing things that seem impossible. We serve a God that wants to keep our hearts challenged to live by faith. We must dare to step out and serve Him even when it looks to us like we cannot do it. Today we will look at a wonderful account of Jesus doing the supernatural and inviting one of His disciples to join Him.
The disciples were in their boat and Jesus had told them to head to the other side because He planned to meet up with them later. Jesus was spending time in prayer as He desired to be alone with his Heavenly Father. Matthew’s account of the story is as follows:

I think there are so many lessons to learn from this portion of scripture. Peter always seems to be remembered for being the dear old soul that was always sticking his foot in his mouth. Isn’t it interest that it was the disciples that were frightened as they saw someone on the water walking towards them, but it was Peter that stepped out in his heart first to find out what was going on. When he asked, “Lord, IF that’s you…tell me to come.” Peter was at least willing to get out of the boat. I made emphasize on the words “But while Peter was walking on the water…” Let us be reminded here that Peter was doing the exact same miracle that Jesus was.
So many read this and place emphasis that Peter was moved by the wind and the waves and he sunk. Let us focus on the fact that Peter WAS walking on the water. Even if it was only a few steps, I always think about the faith that was in his heart that caused him to try and reach the Lord by way of the impossible in the natural. I find it interesting as well that he was that close to Jesus when he began to sink, and all Jesus had to do was reach out and grab his hand. Really, Peter was almost there.
Peter was walking in the miracle yet his reasoning made him begin to sink. Think about it…Peter was on top of the water bypassing all laws of nature. I can only imagine how wonderful and awesome those few seconds of his faith were. Peter just simply permitted his reasoning to challenge and pull down his faith. There may be times that we are only an arm’s reach away from victory and circumstances seem to weaken us. Many times it is when we are closest to victory that the devil will try to distract us with anything that will tempt us to reason away the Word of God on which we are standing. Think about it…simple reasoning of what Peter’s eye’s saw and what his ear’s heard caused him to begin to go down. I will leave you with this scripture:

I want to challenge your heart with this story. Many times Jesus is calling us out of our “boats” and these “boats” are actually our comfort zones. He is calling us to cry out for courage to get out of our comfort zone, and walk in a whole different realm. This realm or new task He may be calling us to walk in may challenge our faith like never before. Accept the challenges that the Lord sets before you to step out of your comfort zone, and walk toward Him with unwavering faith!

“You Were Made For a Purpose”

Each one of us was created by God for a very special purpose, and it is God’s desire that we know what our purpose is! I love that we were all born with our very own set of fingerprints, and they are uniquely ours! I find that so amazing but our God is so amazing isn’t He? Today I want you to know that you are special, and God has a special plan and purpose for you while you are here on this earth.
Many times individuals struggle with why they are here, and what are they to do with their life. As people begin to age they may look back on their lives, and they need to feel that they have made an impact on someone’s life or they desire to know that they have done great accomplishments. Only God can bring out of us all they He created us to be! I will never forget the special words spoken to me when I doubted my ability to step out and do the unimaginable. My brother in the Lord said, “Sister, deep within you there are surprises, and God wants to unlock them and release them!” I will never forget those words for they gave me courage to step out and do what I thought I could not do. It was confirmation to me to step into another phase of God’s purpose in my life.
It is so important to understand that God knew you before your mother gave birth to you. Every stitch and fiber of our being was uniquely knitted together as He formed us in our mother’s womb. Within us He has placed gifts and talents that are an expression of Him.

We need to confess and praise Him for how wonderfully He fashioned us for this life. Deep inside you there may be something that needs birthed. It may be a gift, calling, or some type of creativity that is waiting for it’s awakening. I love how verse fifteen says that we were curiously wrought as if embroidered with various colors. I have never embroidered but I have always felt it to look as if it was a tedious craft. So it was with us as we were being formed within our mother’s womb. He gave great thought to every part of us and how He fashioned us for the work of our life.
Next time you feel tempted to feel that you have no purpose or you judge yourself as a failure, I encourage you to stop and remember that the hand of a loving God formed you for a time and a purpose for such a time as this. As you walk with Him and commit yourself to Him, He will be faithful to lead and guide you and make plain your paths.

“The Enemy of Our Souls”

Today I want to share about how there are enemies to our soul. One in particular is the realm of our thoughts. Oh how our thoughts can rule us. Our thoughts can cause us to say and do things that are so wrong. There is a reason that God desires that we love His Word for it will always keep our hearts and minds and cause us to triumph in this life. It is vital that we abide in Him, and as we do His Word, it will be a well spring deep within us. We must do all that we know to do to protect it, and continue to deposit it so that we can draw upon it in our time of need. Today I will share about our thoughts and how they can be a potential enemy to our soul if we do not deal with them as God would want us to.
First and foremost we have to have it settled within us that God’s Word IS THE HIGHEST AUTHORITY. If I could underline this one hundred times, I would! No matter what happens in our day, and no matter what comes our way, we must be willing to turn our eyes away from what the natural is speaking, and turn our eyes upon Jesus. I am sure that you can relate to the fact that many times situations have loud voices and our thoughts can have loud voices as well. It is what we do with the voice of our thoughts that will make or break us.

I believe there are so many avenues that the devil is trying to use in our world today where the Word of God is being fought against. The devil well understands that he can turn our minds into a battleground of confusion and weakness if we do not guard ourselves. Our education system, news media, etc…is trying to prove God’s Word to be false and invalid. There are arguments against it like never before. If we do not continue to refresh ourselves in the presence of God, and renew our minds with God’s Word this has the potential to wear us down. When one gets worn down they are on a fast track to being pulled into the deceptive current of this world’s thinking. This is so dangerous, and we must constantly keep our hearts and minds protected from such things. The world is trying to make God’s Word and ways look foolish so that we back away from the truth. The Word of God is the most powerful tool we have to live this life. His Word says in Hebrews 4:12 (NASB)

If the Word of God is hidden within us, it will rise up in our time of need. It will cut through the deceptions that are trying to pull us down. We will feel our heart being touched with His pure truth because His Word,as a knife is cutting deeply, and dividing the lie from the truth. You will be able to clearly see the choice you have to make in light of seeing both sides and then the decision is yours.
God desires that we always choose life but He gives us the choice. If the Word is not hidden in your heart my friend, it will not be there to help you win the battles this world brings, and you will heed to the swift currents that sin brings. God desires that we choose life, He desires that we choose to put His Word deep within our hearts, and then He desires that we guard it with all diligence for from it flow the issues of this life! Praise God for that life giving force that is well able to guard our hearts and minds!

“Quiet Rest For Our Souls”

Matthew 11:28-29 (AMP)
“ Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy-laden and overburdened, and I will cause you to rest. I will ease and relieve and refresh your souls. Take My yoke upon you and learn of Me, for I am gentle (meek) and humble (lowly) in heart, and you will find rest relief and ease and refreshment and recreation and blessed quiet) for your souls.”
I love how Jesus spoke here and said, “I will cause you to rest.” Cause defined is when something is brought about. I love that our Lord can bring about that which we need in our souls when we are lacking something. Today let us meditate upon the fact that the Lord desires to bring our souls to rest. This scripture tells us how Jesus understood the nature of man and man’s temptation to do more than what he was created for. I think the biggest mistake we can make is to rely on our own ability and strength to accomplish things. We in turn are capable of overworking our minds and bodies in a way that we were not made to do.
In verse twenty eight Jesus was giving an invitation to the overburdened and weary. He spoke of relieving and refreshing our souls if only we go to Him, and lay our burdens down. It reminds me of Psalm twenty three where the psalmist said in the very beginning “He makes me to lay down in green pastures” and “He leads me beside the still waters.” The first step in the right direction when weariness hits our soul is to to go to Him. Yes, simply GO to Him. Do not turn to your own means of rest and peace. Jesus proceeds to tell us to take His yoke.
Farmers used to yoke the young ox with the old experienced ox to train them. The old ox will take the major load, and the young one would walk along and learn from him. If you read this verses in light of this, it brings so much light to the scripture. As we walk along side of Jesus, and learn of Him, things will go so much better for us. I think it is important to note that Jesus made a point to say immediately that He was gentle (meek) and humble(lowly) in heart. The opposite of these two things is the pride of man. So many times we resist God in some areas, and attempt to do things our way. We can not claim to have Jesus walking along side of us, and insist on doing things our way, and in our own ability.
Jesus wants us to truly submit to His way and His Word. Jesus set us free from the bondages of this world. If you are under the yoke of sin, guilt, failures, anxieties or worry you need to consider humbly giving your burden to Him. Jesus has set us free from that weight that we are trying to carry. Walk with Him today. I encourage you to ask yourself if you are carrying anything in your life that has become a burden. If you are, please consider the words of this devotional and humbly lay your burdens at His feet.

“Give What’s Been Given To You”

God is so good to us. Day after day we rise and He faithfully meets us as we look to Him. We enjoy all of His benefits, and we must never forget one of them. Daily we should have a renewed appreciation of all that He has done for He has done great things!
Today I want you to think about the many times that He has been there for you since you have met Him. Think about the times that you have sinned in your heart yet you turned your heart to Him and repented, and He forgave you once again. Oh that we should praise Him for His endless mercies and lovingkindness toward us. As we draw upon His mercy, love and all the wonderful things that He has blessed us with, we must be mindful to share it with others. So how do we do this? I want you to look at Colossians 3:12 with me:

It can be easy to be so caught up in our outward appearance yet how much more should we be sure to be clothing our inner man appropriately with the beauty of our Lord. As we are diligent to clothe ourselves by putting on behavior that is marked by being tenderhearted and merciful, people will surely see us as a light in this world. We need to also be thinking about how we can live our lives prepared in our hearts and ready to help someone that may need God’s love, a word spoken in season, a listening ear,etc… Today I want to encourage your heart to give to others that which the Lord has so graciously given to you.
As we have experienced God giving us answers to our prayers, and comfort in our time of need we need to equip ourselves to be ready and share that same comfort and love with those in need. God does not bless us with all these wonderful and bountiful blessings for us to just talk about and keep to ourselves. He desires we pass them on and be a living testimony of His goodness! The following scripture that I am sharing is addressing the giving of comfort to someone in need. We need to be ready to bless those in need with the same comfort that we have been blessed with.

Oh how He can use us as we lovingly share the life giving testimonies with those that may be walking through a similar experience that we have endured! As you share what God has done for your life, it will be a testimony of His love and care. I encourage you today to pray for opportunities to be used as a vessel of giving His life, love and comfort to those around you. He watches for those that are willing and ready to be used.

“What Is Integrity?”

What does the word integrity mean? Here is a definition I found for us to look at and ponder:
Adherence to moral and ethical principles; soundness of moral character; honesty.

Today we will meditate upon how our integrity which comes from following the Lord will guide us. First I would love for you to read this short quote as we think about our Lord guiding us in the ways and path of integrity.
“God shall be my hope, My stay, my guide and lantern to my feet.”

If God is our hope, He is always ahead of us. No matter what is going on wrong or if discouragement seems to be bringing us down, may we look to Him as our hope for tomorrow. If He is our stay, He is always all that we need in the present. He shall be the loving Anchor of our soul, and we shall not be moved. If He is our guide, He is all that we need while we are moving and if He is our lantern to our feet we will be moving in His divine direction. His light will go before us, and we will see that our path gets brighter and brighter as unto the noonday sun!
As we practice living, breathing and moving by the Spirit of the Living God we will be a people of integrity. As integrity becomes our desire, every breath we take, and all we do will be to glorify Him and only Him. From the depths of our being there will be a natural desire to please Him and do the right thing. Oh the beauty of walking in the integrity of our God!
I am going to share two versions of scripture from Proverbs 11:3:

“Entrusting Our Lives To Him”

Today let us meditate upon entrusting our lives to the Lord Jesus Christ. He desires that we commit our lives into His care. Let us commit our lives to Him with total trust. Psalm 23:1 David stated, “The Lord is my Shepherd, I shall not want.” As we look to Him for all our needs and concerns, we will lack for nothing. As we entrust ourselves to Him, He promises to be our all whether all is well or all is falling apart. He is our strength when we are weak, and He is our guide when we cannot see because of the trial we are walking through. Paul understood a perfect strength in his time of weakness and this is what he had to say about it…

Paul experienced a strength that did not proceed from his human strength but by the power of the Living God! Have you ever had a time where your human strength and emotions had come to a place of weakness, and suddenly God infused you with fresh strength in your inner man, and you received direction and strong focus? It is such an awesome and supernatural thing! Yesterday I spoke of God’s drenching, permeating peace that is well able to surpass our understanding. May we entrust our everything to Him that His strength, wisdom, and focus can permeate us!
I encourage your heart today to know this…as you entrust yourself to Him, you are in a perfect place! As we abide and dwell in that place of trusting in Him we will experience great and wonderful things that are truly a testimony of God’s wonderful work within us. Serving God is so exciting isn’t it? Praise Him today as the Lord your Shepherd for He promises that you will lack not one thing!
