“He desires to carry our burdens”
by Dona Hake
“Just because you
carry it well,
doesn’t mean it’s not heavy.”

Today and Saturday we will look at the word ~carry~. I can remember an incident that happened to me many years ago. Our sons were young, and my husband was away on a mission’s trip. I decided I wanted to move a heavy piece of furniture. I never gave it a thought that I could not do it but a few days later I realized I injured my back, and I was in so much pain. Sometimes in life we can find ourselves doing things that are beyond our ability, and we pay a price for it.
Many times we do things without thinking, and we bear the consequences of a wrong decision. Then there are those things that we think we can do in our own ability because we’ve lived like that for so long. Doing “little things” in our own ability will eventually make us think we can do the bigger things.
When one becomes burdened after living life like this it will take it’s toll. We may appear fine on the outside as we display a smile yet on the inside we are burdened with things we have learned to internalize. We permit our hearts to be burdened because we simply have not given our burdens to the Lord.
How sad it must be for our Father God to observe us in those times that we choose to live our life in our inability, and carry our own cares. I encourage you today to look to Him, and roll your cares and burdens upon Him. Walk beside Him and yoke up with Him so that He can bear every one of your burdens .
I leave you with the scripture from Matthew 11:28. I pray that you will find rest, renewal, and a blessed quiet within your heart and soul as you serve Him this day!
“Are you weary, carrying a heavy burden?
Then come to me. I will refresh your life,
for I am your oasis. Simply join your life
with mine. Learn my ways and you’ll
discover that I’m gentle, humble,
easy to please.
You will find refreshment
and rest in me.”
